Fabrication and Characterization of Oriented Thin Films of DPP- based Conjugated Copolymer Prepared by Friction Transfer Method

Aligned thin films with controlled molecular orientation are highly desired for high performance organic electronic devices. In this work, a crystalline conjugated copolymer DPP- TTT has been utilized to prepare large area and oriented thin films by the solvent-free friction transfer (FT) method. Results of the microstructural characterization by XRD revealed that thin films fabricated by the FT are anisotropic and exhibited a face-on orientation contrary to isotropic and edge-on oriented thin films fabricated by most commonly spin-coating method. A very high orientation with dichroic ratio of9.7 was demonstrated under optimized conditions with stage speed of 1000 mm/min, stage temperature of 180°C, and 1.5 kg load.
