Abstract:
Induction motor is increasingly employed in the industrial applications due to their unique specialized characteristics from other motors. In Industries, motors have been employed for various pumping, crushing, blowing purposes. An Induction motor takes up to 6 to 7 times of current than its capacity and sudden reach of full speed of motor at the time of starting. This heavy inrush current creates voltage drop across the system and also creates electrical and mechanical stress on the windings. The starting of an induction motor should be in a smoother way and they are expected to take up the speed cautiously for secure operation. Our desired project is to provide a soft and smooth start to induction motor focused on MOSFET. This paper proposes the possibility of using this system in a thermal power plant.
