Analysis on Several Influencing Factors of Underwater Gravity Gradient Navigation

In the process of underwater gravity gradient detection and navigation, the submarine uses the gravity gradiometer to measure the gravity gradient tensor at the location to sense the surrounding seafloor topography and avoid obstacles. Since underwater gravity gradient navigation is very important for submarines, the world’s powers are currently developing this technology. This paper mainly introduces the workflow of underwater gravity gradient navigation, the instrument for measuring gravity gradient, the gravity gradient reference map for matching, and several error sources in the working process. However, the high precision and miniaturization of the current gravity gradiometer instrument still cannot meet the practical requirements, and the errors generated in the process still need further research.
