Leveraging VR to spread awareness about energy conservation among children

In today’s world, Energy conservation is not only the future but also the need of the hour. As the global society collectively gets smarter with the advent of technology it has also created a broader demand for energy. The only way to bridge the imbalance between consumption and availability is to conserve energy. In this paper, we construct a very efficient way to spread awareness about energy conservation by leveraging VR to create an immersive interactive experience that spreads awareness of energy conservation. The solution includes the user indulging in three game-based VR environments that make the user realize the need to conserve energy. The first environment is a domestic home where the kids participate in conserving energy, the second scene involves a game where the kids destroy eco-damaging products and take in eco-friendly items and the final environment is an office where children get to know efficiently practices to conserve energy in a workplace. The VR-enabled solution is aimed at children for fostering a sense of social consciousness about energy conservation. The interactive tasks created with the help of the Unity game engine enhance motivation and empathy towards energy conservation among young users.
