Paging Vulnerabilities in 5G New Radio Networks and Mitigation to Enhance Security Performance

The next generation of wireless communication 5G is emerging in various fields and security is one of the core aspects that are to be evaluated to maintain network integrity. The paging procedure is a fundamental and core component of wireless Cellular communication. The connection from User Equipment to evolved Node Base-Station. If the paging protocol procedure is compromised, the entire network will suffer severe repercussions such as compromising the User Equipment location, device vulnerability exposure, and sensitive data manipulation. The paging procedure needs to be protected by balancing the quality of service and power consumption. In our assessment, it is demonstrated on the network designed and modified the existing protocol to safeguard 5G network resources without having significant overhead.
