Optimal Power Management in Multi-Area Network using Artificial Jellyfish search optimization

Multi-area economic dispatch (MAED) is an extension of economic dispatch and become much more complex to solve due to additional tie-line constraints associated with it. In this paper, a newly proposed jellyfish search (JS) algorithm is implemented for the solution to the MAED problem. Jellyfish found in the ocean, travel from one place to another in search of food sources with passive and active motion with a unique time control mechanism. The jellyfish search (JS) algorithm is a global optimizer; it includes the natural behavior of jellyfish in its Analytical modal for the solution of complex contained optimization problems. To validate the effectiveness of JS is tested on two complex constrained MAED problems. Comparison of simulation results of the tested problem are made with reported results by other metaheuristic supports to claim of its efficacy in searching for promising results and better-constrained handing capability.
