A comparative analysis of EMG signals of the Healthy, Myopathy, and Low Back Pain Patients

Electromyography is a technique of acquiring and recording a muscle's electrical activity; the electromyogram (EMG). This paper analyses the EMG signals of healthy, Myopathy, and low back pain (LBP) individuals taken from the PhysioNet ATM database. This work employs Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and statistical methods to analyze and compare the EMG signals of three different individuals. The results demonstrate a significant mean difference (p <0.05) between the three subjects' EMG signals. The RMS value of EMG data in LBP and Myopathy individuals compared to healthy individuals informs us that the muscle's electrical activity of a person with pain is higher than a healthy one.
