ANovel 17-Level Switched-Capacitor Multilevel Inverter with Reduced Device Count

This article presented a cost-effective 17-level voltage-boosting switched-capacitor (SC) inverter. To generate a 17-level staircase waveform, the suggested design uses twenty switches, four capacitors, and a single DC source. The series and parallel technique immediately resolves the capacitor voltage balance issue. The structure description, operating principle, computation of the optimal capacitance values, and modulation mechanism are all explained in brief. In terms of component per level factor, voltage gain, total standing voltage (TSV), blocking voltage, cost function, comparisons with the existing switched capacitor multilevel inverter (MLI) demonstrate the proposed topology strengths.
