Designing Hexagon, Triangle, Circle Shaped Microstrip Patch Antennas Using Coconut Coir Substrate

This paper aims to design low-cost Antennas using a number of commonly used shapes other than rectangle and extract the best results from them which can be used for wireless IoT based technologies. There is always a need for options in the realm of antenna design that help to reduce total production cost without sacrificing the performance. The FR4, Duroid, RO 4003 and Roger 4350 are the most commonly used antenna substrates, with FR4 being the most cost-effective. The nano cellulose from coconut coir can be employed as an alternative to low dielectric substrates due to its flexible nature, durable character and for being more favorable in terms of cost and environment. In this paper, three different shapes viz triangular, hexagonal and circlular of the microstrip patch antennas are designed by using coconut coir substrate and all these antennas can be prepared at much lower cost as compared to FR4 based antenna for 2.4 GHz operation.
