Electromagnetic design of excitation winding of 10MW superconducting wind generator

Superconducting wind turbine has the advantages of small size and light weight, especially suitable for the development of large capacity offshore wind power. Conventional superconducting motor design uses superconducting tape winding directly, resulting in high inductance value of excitation winding and high excitation induction voltage. In this paper, a superconducting wind generator excitation winding structure using high current YBCO superconducting cable is proposed. The designed wind turbine has a capacity of 10MW, a rated armature voltage of 3.3kV and a rated speed of 9rpm.The superconducting excitation windings are of 20-pole structure and are made of high-current cables of the same structure. The operating current is 3.6kA. Electromagnetic simulation results show that the maximum magnetic induction intensity on the surface of superconducting coil is 4.52T, and the average magnetic induction intensity at the half tooth height of stator winding is 1.4T. Through the development of small YBCO superconducting coil, the validity of the manufacturing process of the racetrack structure superconducting coil is verified.
