A Primary Frequency Control Strategy for the Hybrid PV-CSP System

The hybrid PV (photovoltaic)- CSP (concentrating solar power) system is developing rapidly in recent years due to the cost reduction and operational flexibility, which makes it a good candidate in power system frequency regulation. This paper proposes a primary frequency control strategy for the hybrid PV-CSP system. The proposed strategy is based on a hierarchical control structure and take the state of energy (SOE) into consideration, which coordinates the PV and CSP subsystems to provide frequency support. The effectiveness of the strategy is verified by Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show that the proposed control strategy has good frequency regulation ability under various operating conditions.
