Core Modal Analysis and Noise Suppression Method of Magnetic-valve Controllable Reactor

The magnetic-valve controllable reactor (MCR) is a variable inductance which can be used as reactive power compensation equipment and arc suppression coil. The vibration and noise problem of MCR is serious due to the speciality of magnetic valve structure and AC/DC co-excitation working mode. In this article, the core model of a 35kV MCR is established according to the finite element method. The influence of structure to the core modal is analyzed by simulating the modal shape and natural frequency. Based on the simulation results, the noise suppression method of MCR is proposed. The metal rubber pad and damping sandbox are adopted for the noise suppression. The effects are validated by comparing the noise of MCR which has applied the suppression methods or without the suppression method. The investigation results can provide guidance for the noise suppression of MCR.
