Electromagnetic Performance Analysis of a Flux Reversal Permanent Magnet Linear Machine

Because of the advantages of simple structure, good robustness, high power density, high positional accuracy, high speed, straight-line operation and convenient heat dissipation, the flux reversal permanent magnet linear (FRPML) machine has good prospects in the fields such as ship propulsion, precision instruments, cordless elevators, and 3C product manufacturing complete equipment, and et al. In this paper, a high-quality FRPML machine is designed and investigated. Firstly, the topology and operating principle are analyzed in detailed. Secondly, the power-size equation is deduced and the major structure parameters are obtained. Finally, based on the finite element method, the electromagnetic performance of the FRPML machine is researched in terms of magnetic flux density map distribution, magnetic induction line distribution, back-EMF, detent force and thrust force. The results indicate that the FRPML machine exhibits sinusoidal back-EMF, high power density, low detent force and large thrust force.
