Wire grounding electrode placed near cylindrical multi-layered ground non-homogeneity

Analysis and realization of grounding system fulfilling technical requirements, very often require analysis of the influence of soil non-homogeneity on grounding characteristics. In some cases, non-homogeneity can be approximated as vertical homogeneous cylindrical domain. Such non-homogeneities are various tubes, wells or pillar foundation. In this paper, the procedure for modeling of soil non-homogeneity as multilayered cylindrical domain is presented. The approach is based on using the Method of Moments and Green's function, applicable for analysis of grounding electrodes placed in the surrounding soil. Within that, particular procedure for grounding electrode formed of finite number of wires is described. It has been applied on problem of vertical electrode in the vicinity of well having concrete cylindrical shell.
