Applicability Verification of the Magnetic Geared Motor for Railway Vehicle Traction

This paper identified its characteristics through prototype design and production to understand the applicability and design considerations of magnetic geared motor(MGM) as a railway vehicle traction motor. In this paper, a 1kW class MGM prototype was designed and manufactured based on the load characteristic curve of 45 kW class wireless tram. In addition, the FEM analysis results and experimental results were compared and verified through the load test and no-load test of the prototype, and the fundamental reason for the characteristics was analyzed through the voltage equation of MGM.
