Expansion of the power distribution system of an existing apartment building, if necessary with energy management system for the use of charging points in the building

More and more households, businesses and communities are transforming themselves into self-sufficient electricity producers, which will thus be less and less dependent on the supply grid in the future. The “participants” generate and store their own electricity via renewable energy sources with the help of solar panels, wind turbines, microgrids and battery storage, which they also consume themselves or even sell when needed. The effective use of renewable energy is the opportunity, for use in buildings, for charging vehicles while reducing CO2 emissions. Electricity generation is changing, and so is the way we store, consume and manage electricity. New technologies allow us to use our “buildings as a grid”. Transport is changing, and as more and more e-vehicles are on the road, we need to charge them efficiently without overloading the electricity grids. However, building owners face challenges in doing so, as the given infrastructure of years to decades ago does not meet the requirements needed today and, in the future, to incorporate e-mobility into everyday life and thus into existing buildings.
