Design and Simulation of Vortex Bladeless an Attachable Fin that Harvest Energy Using Piezoelectric Technology

Vortex is a bladeless wind turbine that harvests electricity. It is extracted from the turbine's unlikely vibrations, which constantly add stress and strain to the piezoelectric content, transforming the vibratory energy into electrical energy. This concept attempts to solve the challenge that the traditional generator has. Installing piezoelectric material in the turbine for proper use of vibrational energy to collect electricity is how Vortex's bladeless energy harvesting technology generates more energy. This system has a strong benefit in that it is a unit composite structure that is easy to move and uses less room for assembly. Since this wind turbine does not need a bearing or gear for installation, maintenance is limited and the turbine's lifetime is improved. The expandable fins are attached to this turbine to increase or decrease the surface area of the turbine according to the wind direction, as well as to help sustain the high degree of vibration achieved at low wind speeds. The aim of adding the extra expandable fins to the turbine was to boost the performance of energy harvesting at very low wind speeds while still making the system lightweight than current turbines of the same diameter. The mass of the turbine in this configuration is approximately half that of a typical turbine of comparable width and length.
