Is remote patient monitoring the future of healthcare?

Many countries face a shortage of either healthcare professionals, or healthcare facilities. For this reason, technologies for remote patient monitoring were and are currently proposed as a viable alternative. In this keynote, we will present a number of such technologies and their possible applications. We will also discuss patients' experiences with them, with a focus on positive aspects, but also on fears and frustrations. We will illustrate the talk with a number of examples from projects developed at the Sensory and Ambient Interfaces Laboratory in CEA LIST, France. We will also draw a number of conclusions on the future development and applications of technologies for remote patient monitoring.
