Control and Design 6-Pulse STATCOM Using Novel 2-Vector Closed Loop Control Algorithm

The aim of this paper is to solve the power quality problem by injecting a current into the system to correct the voltage sag and reducing the total harmonic distortion (THD) in the distribution line. 2-vector closed loop controller, PLL and dq controller were proposed to control the 6-pulse STATCOM and control the phase shift between the power system current, source voltage and maintain the 1p.u. It is worth mentioning that simulation was carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC.
