Comparison between harmonic identification techniques of active filter with experimental validation

The frequent use of certain so-called nonlinear loads poses a serious problem for the electricity network; because they draw from the electrical network a distorted current (not sinusoidal). Given this constraint, the objective is then to eliminate the harmonic currents present in the network. Therefore, the active filtering method was chosen, more precisely the use of the parallel active filter (PAF) which has many more advantages. So to have good harmonic compensation, the parallel active filter will require an adequate and robust control system. For this, a comparative study was carried out with the implementation of the different control strategies, namely the instantaneous power PQ method, the instantaneous current DQ method and the direct power control DPC method. Finally, a real-time implementation was developed experimentally using a control card of the DSPACE 1104 to approved and validate the functionality of the FA with DPC method.
