Evaluation of Electric Vehicle Stability Using Fractional PID and Fuzzy PID Based Controllers

The vehicle’s yaw rate and body sideslip angle (BSA) are the most critical characteristics for describing the vehicle’s stability performance. A three-degree-of-freedom planar model of the vehicle is used to improve the vehicle’s yaw stability when front steering is used. We take yaw rate feedback as an input and present a yaw rate control system based on a fuzzy PID and a fractional PID controller. The controllers are designed in such a way that they generate the proper yaw rate, ensuring that the vehicle maintains the desired yaw rate values. A simulation is run in the context of a lane maneuver steering angle. The simulation results indicate that when the vehicle is subjected to a change in line of maneuver, the yaw rate of the controlled vehicle remains close to the desired value while the sideslip angle values degrade when the vehicle is subjected to the same cornering maneuver.
