Investigation of Pilot Decontamination Algorithm in Multicell Massive MIMO Systems

Pilot Contamination occurs when the same pilot sequence is used again in conjoining cells, which is a serious problem that must be addressed. A Hybrid scheme utilized for Pilot decontamination that unite two pilot decontamination schemes namely the Soft pilot reuse scheme and Weighted-Graph-Colored Pilot Decontamination Scheme is studied in this paper. The performance of the above mentioned hybrid decontamination strategy with respect to the varying number of antennas and pilot Sequences that was not presented in previous works is investigated. The outcome of simulation show that increasing the number of Base station antenna and pilot sequences improves the performance of the standalone decontamination schemes. It is comparatively better than the combinational SPRS + WGC-PD, which uses fewer Base station antennas and pilot sequences.
