A Review on Opinion Leader Detection and its Applications

In today’s era internet has evolved as a means for users to connect and share their opinions. So internet users can easily access information, put across their opinions, and connect with others through a wide range of social media and services. A powerful individual who is an expert in a given subject and has a significant number of followers whose opinions influence others on social media is known as an opinion leader (OL). Opinion leaders are those who are motivated, enthusiastic, and dynamic, with good educational and behavioural edifications, and who use their expert knowledge to influence clients. Opinions and ideas are the most important sensory variables in sociological events. The objective of the paper was to provide an introduction to OL detecting methods. To accomplish this, the proposed research work has discussed about the difficulty of identifying OLs followed by an evaluation of several solutions analyzed methodologies, such as centrality and community-driven metrics, methods that concentrate on interaction data and influence diffusion processes within a network, and the substance of information shared by individuals. The techniques, models, and processing flows, though, are strongly reliant on the problematic area and the unique data accessible; as a result, it is extremely challenging to create targeted interventions. In practice, however, the purpose is to detect leaders on certain issues and in definite situations, necessitating the use of the most effective specially adjusted methodologies. The methods offered in this paper reflect these considerations to choosing a suitable method or approach for a given circumstance.
