Design of Dielectric Loaded Interaction Structure for Q-Band Gyro-TWT

In this article, design methodology of dielectric loaded interaction structure with input and output coupling for
$Q$
-band gyro traveling wave tube (gyro-TWT) has been described. The particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation of loaded interaction structure for
$Q$
-band has been investigated using MAGIC code. The simulation results predict that the interaction structure can produce more than 200-kW output power and 50-dB saturated gain at 45–50-GHz frequency range. A new type of multichannel input coupler and wideband double disk sapphire output window is used to improve the performance of the
$Q$
-band gyro-TWT. This article describes the design and simulation of a high-performance TE
₀₁
mode
$Q$
-band gyro-TWT amplifier that applies the technique of employing a periodic dielectric loaded interaction structure to achieve stability and broad bandwidth. The stability of the gyro-amplifier was excellent and demonstrating that the ceramic loading is a highly effective for suppressing the spurious oscillations in the gyro-TWT amplifier.
