Application of Digital Simulation Technology in Optimization of Assembly Process for the Core Module of Space Station

In order to solve the problems of unintuitive expression, incomplete information and inadequate risk identification when using tables and flow charts to plan the core module of China Space Station (CSS) assembly process, digital simulation technology is applied. firstly, a simulation environment is established, which includes personnel, process equipment, workshop environment, 3D layout model of the core module. Based on the environment, digital simulation-based assembly process optimization is promoted as following: a. Complete processes of typical assembly and test operations are validated and optimized in virtual reality; b. Interfaces matching between assembly equipment and workshop environment are verified; c. Issues related to worker operation are validated and optimized, including visibility, reachability, operability, and comfort. The simulation application is beneficial to identify operation risk, and helpful to optimize assembly method and scheme.
