Smart Microgrids with H2G/G2H Power Sharing in Indian Scenario

India is the one of the world’s largest consumers of electricity. It heavily relies on fossil fuels. Exhaustion of fossil fuels and global warming has made renewable energy an attractive option for power generation. Unfortunately, the sporadic nature of renewables results in the discrepancy between generation and demand. This discrepancy results in decrease in the efficiency of harvested energy. Usually, the surplus harvested energy is either stored in batteries or transmitted to the grid which results is large amount of conversion and transmission losses. This paper proposes an alternative structure where energy can be explicitly shared among the homes. This approach is evaluated in simulation using real data of harvested energy through solar and average consumed energy of homes. Finally, the efficiency of this structure considered is studied comparing the loads on the grid in different conditions.
