Power Reaching Law Based Double-Integral Sliding Mode Controller for Mitigating SSR Problems in DFIG Based Wind Farms

The sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) effect arises in the series-compensated doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)based wind farm, and this study presents a power reaching law-based double-sliding mode controller to alleviate it. When constructing the suggested controller, only the rotor-side-converter (RSC) of a DFIG is considered because it has a bigger impact on removing the SSR than the grid-side-converter (GSC). Because the proposed controller can exhibit robustness against external and parametric uncertainty, external disturbances are also taken into account inside the RSC’s dynamical model to demonstrate resilience. External disturbances are bounded to assure the overall system’s stability, and the Lyapunov theory is utilized to establish it. Finally, simulation studies are conducted to demonstrate the proposed controller’s use and to compare it to an existing controller to demonstrate superiority.
