Use of Textile Structures for Fast-Stirring Action in a Rigid Reverberation Chamber

Reverberation chambers have many advantages for radiated immunity tests. A disadvantage, however, is the comparatively high measurement duration compared to measurements in anechoic chambers. In the case of fast-responding EUT, the test duration can be reduced significantly if the boundary conditions in the chamber are changed very quickly. In this paper, an approach for a stirring system is presented that uses mechanical motion of textile conductive structures to enable fast-stirring action in a conventional chamber with rigid walls. Existing chambers can be relatively easily equipped with this system. The performance of the stirring system is assessed on the basis of suitable parameters and compared with that of a conventional mode tuner.
