An Ambitious Journey to Superior EMC Performance for the Juice Mission

The JUpiter ICy moons Explorer (JUICE) is the first L-class mission in the ESA's Cosmic Vision 2015–2025 programme to be launched in 2023. During the mission's science-phase of three years the gas-giant Jupiter with its three largest moons, Ganymede, Callisto and Europa will be studied with a diverse selection of state-of-the-art instruments. To ensure the success of the scientific goals, covering a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum from DC up to ultraviolet radiation, the Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) of the JUICE spacecraft (S/C) has to be ensured. This paper takes the reader on a journey through the different phases ranging from specification to verification of a S/C determined to provide superior EMC performance for the benefit of the JUICE mission.
