Research on Handover Technology in 5G NSA and SA Hybrid Network

With the extensive commercial use of 5G networks in 2020, global operators have accelerated the pace of 5G network development. In the early stage of 5G construction, operators use the NSA network architecture. During the evolution of the 5G network from NSA to SA, there will inevitably be scenarios where NSA/SA hybrid network coexists. This paper introduces the network architecture of NSA and SA and the evolution scheme of NSA/SA hybrid network. In the scenario of NSA/SA hybrid network coexistence, the connection state handover technology from NSA to SA and SA to NSA is studied, and the optimized handover function from SA to NSA newly added in Release 16 is analyzed.
