Design and Simulation Modeling of Emergency Transfer (EMTR) System of Electrical Power Supply Network Feeding Nuclear Facility

The rapid advancements in nuclear technology has opened gates to many new applications and these require building many nuclear facilities and one of the important requirement to operate such facility is the most reliable power supply system. The paper showers light on understanding the electrical power supply system for a typical nuclear facility that includes four classes of power supplies i.e. Class I, II, III and IV along with emergency transfer system under various failure events. An optimal single line diagram for nuclear facility has been presented for an 11 kV electrical Sub-Station and the vital emergency transfer system schematic has been validated for single line diagram by simulation modeling.
