Understanding Higher Education Institution (HEIs) Research Productivity using Clustering and Keywords Network Analysis

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines are challenged to increase the research output and continue to contribute an idea to the body of knowledge. However, as research outputs are growing, the academic institution is challenged to monitor its theme. The datasets in this study are the published Scopus index paper of Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) Manila from the year 2016-2021. This study aims to determine the research themes with Social Network Analysis (SNA) such as betweenness and degree of centrality, and K-means clustering. Keyword networks analysis and K-means clustering techniques successfully unlock hidden growing topics. Most of the growing research themes are image processing, machine learning, deep learning, disaster risk management, environmental sustainability, and computer security. The result of this study particularly research topics can aid research administrators and management in developing policies to increase research productivity.
