Analysis of Airfoil for Horizontal axis Wind Turbine Blade

Power sector is focusing toward the power generation methods through renewable energy source as it is ecofriendly and fossil fuels will be depleted in near future. For utilization of power through wind turbine, Wind energy conversion system plays important role which converts the available wind energy into electrical energy and wind turbine is the important component for the same. The performance of the aerodynamics system in wind turbines plays a very vital role to get the maximum torque, which is the key parameter for the generated power. The reliability of the wind turbine depends on the airfoil structure which should be designed carefully so that it can absorb energy with the great efficiency which plays a crucial role in the wind energy conversion system. The lift and drag ratio and the moment ratio is important factors for the airfoil of the wind turbine blade. The main purpose of the analysis of airfoil is to perform the CFD (computational fluid dynamic) analysis for different blade sections of the wind turbine by the K-omega SST model. This paper presents the different type of airfoil design criteria aspects of the wind turbine blade with consideration of the NACA family. NACA 4412 are symmetrical airfoil, are used to do CFD analysis with the different possible values of angle of attack.
