Deterministic bounds on performance about software defined network based on network calculus

When the SDN controller sends flow table entries to all switches in the routing path, aiming at the flow table miss caused by the flow table timeout mechanism, we proposed a bound analysis method of SDN performance based on network calculus. The method describes the interaction between data flows and control flows in switches and controller, and analyzes the bound of SDN performance when the data flows match or miss. Especially in the analysis of the flow table miss, we introduced the flow table timeout value and a new arrival curve which is more rigorous than the traditional affine function, then deduced the bound of network performance. Finally, Ryu and Mininet were used to simulate the end-to-end delay and backlog performance of SDN, and compared with the theoretical results of the analytical model, providing a basis for the parameter setting of SDN.
