Forget Me Not: A Cognitive Stimulation Application for Dementia Patients using Speech to Text Recognition

Dementia is the term given to a brain disease that induces memory loss and a decline in major cognitive skills which disrupts one’s daily activities. Although elderly people usually have a higher risk of being diagnosed with dementia, the disease can occur in multiple varieties and at all ages. Patients with dementia who had no interaction with their families were found to be more anxious, frustrated, and irritated. This study focuses on creating a mobile application which will allow dementia patients to stay connected with their loved ones while helping them to improve their cognitive skills. It consist of features such as customizable reminders, specialized games and a voice-based version of the General Practitioner Assessment of Cognition dementia screening test.
