Transforming Government and Citizen Services with AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming how governments around the world function very similar to the transformation it is driving in every industry segment. There are several areas where AI can transform governance and citizen services. This chapter focuses on how AI will change the government and citizen services of the future in areas, including sentiment analysis, socioeconomic interventions, financial markets regulation, taxation, and document generation. To make the use of AI effective and pervasive, governments have to take the lead in developing a national agenda around AI. A national agenda around AI will be successful when the efforts of the government, the industries, and academia are augmented with the awareness and willingness of the broader population. Finally, governments have an incredibly important role to play in managing the job displacements that happen due to the increased adoption of AI.
