SSL, TLS and DTLS Protocols

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocols are used to create a secure session between a host, which initializes the session, and a security gateway acting as a server, localized in the protected Local Area Network (LAN). The Datagram TLS (DTLS) protocol reuses the main functionalities of SSL/TLS protocols. The Record header encapsulates SSL/TLS messages or messages originating from the application layer. The Certificate Authorities Length field, coded on 2 bytes, contains the total size of the group of Certificate Authorities fields. The Certificate Authorities field contains Distinguished Name information concerning the certification authority contained in the certificate. The DTLS protocol must determine the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) size of the Internet Protocol (IP) packet on the route between the client and the server in order to deduce the maximum size of the fragment from it.
