Abstract:
Industry 4.0 calls for novel approaches for managing assets like machinery, inventory, equipment etc. In an asset intensive industry like oil & gas, managing the assets, namely wells, heater treaters, separators, etc., plays an important role in minimizing the cost towards maintenance. One way of reducing the maintenance cost in oil and gas sector, is by planning the schedule of site visits, intelligently. In this paper we propose a novel context aware asset management solution, which can cut down the maintenance cost significantly. The contribution presented in this paper is a microservices based system architecture using generalized IoT stack, with context aware capabilities introduced by leveraging Resource Description Framework (RDF) schema-based ontologies. The implementation details along with the test results showing the working and efficacy of the system are detailed. The system solution has been successfully prototyped and tested with real data.
