Fabrication of Flexible Li-ion Battery Electrodes Using "Battlets" Approach with Ionic Liquid Electrolyte for Powering Wearable Devices

This work demonstrates a novel "battlets" design for fabricating a flexible Li-ion battery for wearable devices. Flexible LiFePO4 cathodes with 10 mm bending radius were fabricated and characterized using the "battlets" design. To address the safety concern of the Li-ion battery, a nonflammable ionic liquid electrolyte was prepared, and its electrochemical performance was compared with the conventional organic LiPF6 electrolyte.
