Design of Electric Drive Dynamics using Impedance Separation and Impedance Shaping

This paper presents a design oriented approach for the evaluation of electric drive dynamics using the concept of impedance separation and impedance shaping. These are based on electrical circuit analysis tools and the formulation of impedance based approach simplifies the analysis for the interconnected electromechanical systems. An illustrative example of a speed-controlled PMSM motor driving a load that exhibits resonance is presented to highlight the approach to mitigate such resonances. Analytical results and computer simulations and are presented.
