Torsion Excitation in Dusty Plasma Crystals

It has recently been shown that highly structured plasma crystals can, under appropriate conditions, form non-Hamiltonian features known as torsions. Torsions consist of pairs of particles that rotate about a central point exhibiting circular to elliptical motion with varying elongation and can be created through a sharp decrease in power or pressure.
