An Aperture Fed Frequency Reconfigurable Patch Antenna For X-Band Applications

This manuscript implements Aperture Fed miniaturized microstrip patch antenna to achieve frequency reconfigurability. The proposed design comprehends two similar PIN diodes at upper substrate positions. Aperture feed is provided by compressing the feed line between the upper and lower substrate to decrease spurious waves at higher frequencies, enabling the antenna for X band applications. The reconfigurability of the antenna is achieved by controlling the switching of modeled two PIN diodes. The frequency switching is 11.58 GHz when both the diodes are On to 11.66 GHz when both the Switches are Off. It has a band stating from 11.39 GHz to 11.83 GHz.
