Selection of Pulse Repetition Frequency in Radar for Flight Prediction to Detect Flight Trajectories of Small Aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles at Low Altitudes

Unmanned aerial vehicles, as the most promising type of air transport for the development of hard-to-reach territories with difficult weather conditions, for example, the Arctic, should be equipped with systems that ensure the safety of air traffic. In this case, the use of radar as an all-weather source of information about the presence of other air objects in the air and the routes of their movement seems most appropriate. The operation of the onboard radar in low-altitude flight conditions to find and predict the flight routes of other aircraft, especially on intersecting and receding courses, is complicated by the fact that the spectra of the useful signal and interference from the Earth’s surface are superimposed. For a pulsed airborne radar station, a simple method is presented for searching for such pulse repetition frequencies that, at a given speed, altitude and range required for radar tracking of the flight path, provide a lower level of power of re-reflections from the ground.
