Thermally conductive polymer composites for high voltage insulation

Electrical insulation isolates electric conductors from the earth, which is a necessary component to ensure the safe operation of electrical equipment and electrical lines. At present, the development of electrical power equipment towards high integration and high power density has raised more rigorous requirements for electrical insulation materials. Electrical insulating materials should not only have high dielectric breakdown strength but also have high thermal conductivity to rapidly dissipate the heat generated during the operation of the equipment. This review summarizes the application and research progress of thermally conductive insulating materials in a variety of power equipment. The design, fabrication and practical application of thermally conductive insulating materials were mainly focused. Finally, the future development of thermally conductive insulating materials is envisioned.
