Analysis of Application Potential of Hydrogen Energy in Low Carbon Transformation of Waterborne Traffic

Waterborne transportation is an important pivot of comprehensive stereoscopic transportation. As China is formulating an action plan for peaking carbon dioxide emission before 2030, the green and low carbon transformation of waterway transportation is facing great pressure. As a new energy carrier, hydrogen energy is regarded as an important pathway to realize the low carbon transformation in the fields of ports and ships. This paper reviews the application of hydrogen energy in ports and ships. Based on the existing data, it is inferred that the application of hydrogen fuel in ports, ships and heavy-duty truck sector can reduce CO
2
emission by 10.12 million tons in China. Finally, suggestions on the application of hydrogen energy in waterway transportation sector are put forward.
