Statistical Analysis and Countermeasures Study on Major Accidents of Highway and Waterway in China

In order to delve the rules of major accidents in China's highway and waterway industry, data of sixty-first major accidents occurred since 2013 are used for statistical analysis, in terms of business field, month, place and occurrence time. The analysis shows that the number of major accidents and deaths in China's highway and waterway industry has shown a downward trend. 77% of accidents are road transport accidents; accidents occur frequently in August; at most, 25% of accidents occur during the period from 8:00 to 12:00. Through in-depth analysis of major accidents, key causes of the accidents are illegal behaviors, inadequate safety skills and poor technical conditions of vehicles and vessels. Countermeasures and Suggestions are put forward to strengthen the prevention of major accidents from the responsibility implementation, risk prevention, science and technology, and so on.
