Algorithm for Headway of Fixed Route Buses in Bus Stations Based on Bus Big Data

The headway of fixed route buses in bus stations determines the availability service quality of each station, and the coefficient of headway variation is an important indicator of the convenience of bus routes. Due to the influence of factors as bus bunching, traffic jam, and passenger flow, there are always differences between the actual arrival time of fixed route buses and written timetables. Basing on the GPS data of bus and data of bus stations, this paper uses longitude and latitude to calculate the distance, and proposes an algorithm of headway of buses in bus stations. Meanwhile, this algorithm has been verified by the data of the bus No. 48 in Shanghai. It turns out that the algorithm is helpful to quantitatively evaluate the bus service quality.
