Multi Quadrant Operation of BLDC Motor-driven Electric Hybrid Vehicle

Brushless DC motors are widely used in speed drive applications due to their power density and ease of control. When operated in the ideal conditions, brushless DC motors produce a steady torque. The high-speed automobile industry seems to have boomed with the advent of BLDC motors. For BLDC Drives operating in four quadrants, a converter topology is proposed in this paper. As for the braking operation, regenerative braking is maintained while the motoring operation is carried out by conventional emf injection. The current research is focused on how to make BLDC drives work in multiple quadrants and thus civilize the form. Based on simulation studies that include regenerative braking mechanisms, BLDC drives are more adaptable to electric hybrid vehicles that are used today. Simultaneous simulations using MATLAB SIMULINK demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed methodology. A prototype electric hybrid vehicle is also presented as well as miniature experiments related to it.
