Review and Prospect of Determination Methods of Water Content in Crude Oil

The water cut of crude oil is an important data in crude oil production, and its measurement is of great significance to crude oil exploitation, geological exploration, production construction and sales processing. In this paper, the methods of moisture content measurement at home and abroad are summarized, including manual measurement method and online instrument detection method, and the advantages and disadvantages of each method are compared. The factors affecting the water cut of crude oil were analyzed. Based on the background of the rapid development of big data, this paper puts forward some suggestions on the innovation of moisture content determination methods, and discusses and points out that the moisture content determination methods based on machine learning, smart sensors and big data technology have far-reaching guiding significance for the future moisture content determination.
