Optimal Network Reconfiguration with DGs Placement and Sizing in a Distribution System Using Hybrid SOE and GA

The paper focuses on network reconfiguration in power distribution systems for reducing network power losses and improving voltage profiles. This paper applies the switch opening and exchange (SOE) concept for obtaining the radial topology by following close all sectionalizing switches in the system then opening each switch that has the minimum loss as a tie switch and then finding the optimum siting and size of distributed generations (DGs) using a genetic algorithm (GA), which reduces power losses and improves voltage profile for the distribution systems. This proposed algorithm is examined on the standard IEEE 33 and IEEE 69 buses test distribution networks. The simulation result enables the usefulness of the proposed methodology.
